About the Training Program
The Soil Conservation Service Curve Number (SCS-CN) method is one of the most widely adopted hydrological models for estimating direct surface runoff from rainfall events. It is extensively applied in watershed management, flood assessment, groundwater recharge studies, water harvesting planning, and hydrological modelling.
This hands-on training program provides participants with a complete workflow for implementing the SCS-CN method using ArcMap and Google Earth Engine. Participants will learn watershed delineation, land use mapping, Hydrologic Soil Group (HSG) preparation, Curve Number generation, Antecedent Moisture Condition (AMC) analysis, runoff estimation, water balance assessment, groundwater recharge mapping, and watershed prioritization through real-world case studies.
The course combines hydrological theory with practical GIS applications, enabling participants to independently perform rainfall-runoff modelling for research, consultancy projects, government watershed programmes, and environmental planning.
